What We Do

Awareness

Normalizing mental health conversations through campaigns and storytelling.
We challenge the stigma that keeps too many Black men suffering in silence. Through powerful storytelling, creative social campaigns, and educational workshops, we amplify voices and experiences that often go unheard—bringing mental health into the light and into everyday dialogue.

Resources

Providing therapy scholarships and directories for culturally competent care.
Access to mental health care shouldn't be a privilege. We provide scholarships for therapy sessions, and we maintain a growing directory of trusted, culturally responsive Black mental health professionals. Our goal is to bridge the gap between need and care without shame or barriers.

Advocacy

Promoting equitable mental health policies and practices.
We raise our voices not just for individuals, but for systemic change. From pushing for more inclusive mental health policies to partnering with organizations, schools, and legislators, we advocate for structural solutions that make mental health equity a reality, not a buzzword.

Community Building

Fostering connections through mentorship and wellness events.
Healing happens in community. We host wellness circles, mentorship programs, and culturally rooted events that bring Black men together in spaces of safety, reflection, and joy. Because collective healing is powerful—and no one should walk this journey alone.

About the Founder

Jeysonlee Jones is the founder of Strong Roots Collective, a healing-centered initiative rooted in justice, community, and culturally grounded mental health. With a background in HR, education, and ministry, he brings a holistic approach to advocacy that honors both the systems we navigate and the souls we carry.

A preacher’s kid turned minister, Jeysonlee grew up steeped in faith and family—but also witnessed how emotional struggles, especially for Black men, were often silenced. That reality sparked his commitment to creating space for Black men to be fully seen, supported, and empowered.

Strong Roots Collective exists to do just that—offering resources, storytelling, and community that challenge stigma and affirm that tending to our roots is how we heal and grow.
